So I made this rushed mix for my pregnant officemate to listen to while she’s on her maternity leave. I sleepily wrote “mixtape” when it’s not even technically a mixtape but whatever. And the songs I put there aren’t even that indie, therefore not really hipster, but a lot of them were from the DFTBA Lullabies and I’m pretty sure my officemate has never heard of nerdfighters so there’s that.
I only regret omitting John Mayer’s Daughters and Colbie Caillat’s Capri from the tracklist. They’re two of may favourite parent-y songs but my officemate is going to have a baby boy and I thought, “these songs are for people with daughters.” It was stupid logic because I also included songs totally unrelated to motherhood/babies such as Kina Grannis’ The One You Say Goodnight To and David Choi’s By My Side. I know.

I’ve always wanted to make a mix for someone like that song in Avenue Q, except, you know, I want to give it as a friend and not mean anything deeper than platonic. And having a pregnant officemate was the perfect situation! Especially since I already had DFTBA Lullabies in my playlist.
